Hi I'm Pearl. I am 11 and I'm from Australia. I moved here last year. I love One Direction, the colour purple, swimming and netball. I also enjoy dancing, acting, singing, writing and reading. I have one brother and I have lots of really good friends here and in Australia. This year I have a really good teacher; Mrs Winstone, she is very inspirational.Oh my favourite animal is a elephant. This is my letter for my pen pal all the way from Arizona
On Friday 25th at 9.00pm I started the 40h famine.It was hard because I was at Sammie's birthday so I couldn't eat popcorn when we were watching movies and I couldn't have pancakes and bacon in the morning, but I was doing it to make a difference to the children of Mali and Niger.I got sponsored $61 and with that it can feed 14 kids for 6 weeks;It provides them with grain,rice,water and some veggies.
At times I felt so hungry that I wanted to stop but I kept going and I pulled through.At 2.00 on Sunday afternoon I had finished and I was glad I was going to make a difference to people's lives!
Term one
In term one we did so much including camp! At camp we did lots of activities like; surfing,stack em, abseiling, tree climbing, raft building and so much more. We ate yummy food and had a run on the beach. Every morning and each night we did drama. Camp was so fun and it was definitely the best thing we did in term one, but there was more... The topic for term 1 was responsibility. We talked about our responsibilities in the wider community and our own responsibilities for example, road patrol. Also in term one we had swimming sports. I competed in 50 meters freestyle, 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke and 25m breast stroke. Wooo hooooo term 1!
Soldier poem
I am a soldier, I can smell the poppies growing in the endless fields around me. I can hear the rain plopping in the mud next to me. I can see the unknown fear in the soldiers eyes that come out into no mans land I can feel the tears trickle down my face onto the picture of my family. I can taste the dying and the dead in the musty air around me.
And I hate this war, but there is hope in the sight of the gold morning sun.

MOMENT IN TIME
I was clicked in. As I lent back I could feel my stomach turn inside out. I walked backwards onto the blue wall. I didn't want to do it, but there was no turning back. With every step I took I felt more and more afraid. What would happen if I fell? When I shuffled onto the vertical wall I felt like I was taking a leap of faith. With every little piece of rope I let out I felt more and more like the rope would snap, sending me plummeting to the ground. I took every step with care making sure my feet were in the right spot. I kept moving down the wall anxiously letting out the rope. As I touched the ground I was so relieved. I took my helmet off and sat on the safe ground. I had done it.
